Bench press is the most impressive lift you can do in a gym. It is also basically the best way to build upper body muscle.

Bent Over Row with The EZ Bar
Use the EZ Bar to get better ergonomic grip than straight barbell bent over rows.
This will change everything and allow you to do much higher reps and weights in the bent over row exercise.
